Key items for your prayers:
The network of facilitators in each group of villages which was set up at the start of 2024 has been very successful at providing continuity of care and coordinating visits from the team. We could do with some more as several cover quite a large geographical area.
Pray for a young girl, Alice, who has club feet. We are organising regular treatment for her and seeing her gradually able to walk more comfortably.
Incidences of children with malnutrition, malaria and sickle cell are all too common. We do give out some food but the need is enormous and we really want to help people become self-sufficient. Pray that we may be able to partner with other NGOs to help with small scale agricultural products.
It's time to set the budget for 2025. Do pray for the team as they have to decide on priorities within the available funds.
Pray for the preparation of a visit from the UK probably in early April 2025. Pray for peace in the country with upcoming parliamentary elections and a continuing border dispute with Rwanda. We are hoping to introduce partners during the visit who will enable the work to broaden its scope.
Give thanks for the dedication of the small team, their enthusiasm, teamwork and concern for the people.
People helped in the villages - October 2024
To give an idea of the types of issues the team come across, here are the statistics for just one month - October 2024. It shows the huge range of challenges faced in the six villages they were able to visit.
Helping those who are suffering is just one part of the work. Teaching about the benefits of inclusion, the rights of children and disabled people and helping families towards self-sufficiency are, perhaps, even more important in the long term.
We pray that all might see the love of God for all children, women and men.
We are very grateful to those who donated to pay towards the rather expensive repair of the team's 4x4 Toyota. The turbocharger failed and, although labour is low cost in Burundi, spare parts are anything but!
